Reinebringen

After just a 10-minute drive you can begin the climb up the sherpa stairs to Reinebringen. The stairs were built by Nepalese sherpas and make the steep hike more accessible.

At the top, a stunning view over Reinefjorden and the fishing villages below unfolds. Take your time, wear solid footwear and check the weather. Note that the stairs are closed in winter for safety.

The hike takes around an hour from the centre of Reine, climbing more than 1600 steps. Before the staircase was built, the final stretch was loose scree, and several hikers were injured by falling rocks — which is why the sherpa staircase was constructed. From the top you look straight down on Reine and Sakrisøy, with their iconic rorbu cabins and turquoise water spread out below you.
